Devil's tower is a rock formation that is 600 ft high and rises above the Belle Fourche River on the western section of the Black Hills.
History - Indian tribes knew Devil's Tower as Bears Lodge. Many tribes have some sort of legend about the monument. These tribes include the Arapahoe, Shoshone, Lakota and Cheyenne. President Theodore Roosevelt made the area a US national monument in 1906.
There are wildlife and over 150 species of birds in the area of Devil's tower.
Devil's tower is 867 feet tall. the top is about 1.5 acres.
