Fossil butte National Monument is located in southwest Wyoming west of Kemmerer on US Hwy. 30. The museum here has fossilized reptiles, insects, fish and animals. It has a visitor center. There is a limestone slab with over 356 fish fossils within and a fossil of a crocodile. At the fossil research quarry you can help park staff gather fossils.
Wyoming is the richest fossil area in the US.
In Laramie, find the Geological Museum at the University of Wyoming. The museum displays several fossilized skeletons of dinosaurs.
The Wyoming dinosaur dig center at Thermopolis offers hands on experience with expeditions at dig sites. You work along with professional paleontologists. Find remains of Tyrannosaurus Rex (TRex), Triceratops, Allosaurus, Apatosaurus, Pteradon and other dinosaurs. At the center, there are over 24 mounted dinosaur skeletons. You can dig for a day here. Shop at the gift shop for dinosaur related souvenirs.
Big Horn Basin Foundation is in Thermopolis. Find a working dig site, museum, interpretive dig site tours, hands on dig, and kids programs.
