Central Wyoming

There are 9 national forests in Wyoming: Bighorn, Bridger, Medicine Bow, Shoshone, Teton, Black Hills, Caribou, Targhee and Wasatch.

Edness K. Wilkins State Park is located along the North Platte River east of Casper off I-25. There is a pond with a beach. Fish off a pier that is handicap accessible. Canoe. Raft. Hike. Bird watch. Take a picnic.

Glendo State Park  is located off I-25. Enjoy sandy beaches along the Glendo reservoir. Fish. Boat. Camp.

Gernsey State Park is located off Hwy 26 on the North Platte River near Guernsey. Go hiking, boating and camping. See the historic Register Cliff.

Northwest Wyoming

Boysen State Park is located north of Shoshoni off Hwy. 20. Go rafting through the Wind River Canon. Camp. around the lake. Swim. Fish. Catch rainbow trout, crappie, perch, walleye. Enjoy the spectacular views of the canyon.

Buffalo Bill State Park is near Yellowstone National Park and west of Cody Wyoming. View the Absaroka Mountains. Go hiking, fishing, boating, biking, camping and fishing. See wildlife.

Hot Springs State Park is located in Thermopolis Wyoming off Hwy 20 along the Big Horn River. Established in 1897, it is the oldest state park in Wyoming. These hot springs are one of the largest free flowing mineral hot springs in the world. Soak your tired aching muscles. Native Americans thought the springs to have healing powers.

Grand Teton National Park is located south of Yellowstone National Park near Cody and Jackson Wyoming. The mountain peaks here are over 12000 ft. The visitor center is located in Moose, Flagg Ranch, Colter Bay and Jenny Lake. Outdoor adventure abound. See Wildlife. Go fly fishing, trout fishing, kayaking, Whitewater Rafting on the Snake River. Hike or Bike mountain trails. Take a cruise on Jackson Lake. Camp. Take a guided tour on horseback or take a pack trip. Enjoy the beauty of nature at its finest.

Sinks Canyon State Park is southwest of Lander off Hwy 131. Camp. Fish. Hike. Rock climb. Birdwatch. There is a visitor center with exhibits about the canyon. The Pop Agie River cuts through the canyon.

Yellowstone National Park - over 2 million acres of wilderness, see wildlife, geysers, and other natural wonders.

Northeast Wyoming

Black Hills National Forest borders South Dakota. It is located off I-90 and US Highways 16 and 385.

Keyhole State Park is near the Black Hills and Sundance Wyoming off I-90. See Devils Tower. Bird Watch. View wildlife. Camp. Picnic. Swim in the lake. Fish for Bass, Pike, catfish and Walleye. Go boating.

Southeast WY

Curt Gowdy State Park is located off Hwy 210 between Laramie and Cheyenne Wyoming. There are two reservoirs here, Granite reservoir and Crystal Reservoir. Go boating, fishing and hiking. In winter, go skiing.

Seminoe State Park is located off 1-80 northeast of Sinclair Wyoming. View the Seminoe Mountains in the north. Fish for trout and walleye.  Go boating in the state's largest reservoir. Camp. View wildlife. Bird watch. Wyoming prime fishing area is only a few miles north of this area along the North Platte River.

Southwest WY

Bear River State Park is near Evanston on I-80. This park is only open during the day. See bison, elk and other wildlife. Picnic. Hike Fish for Cutthroat trout. Bike. Go rollerblading.
